Errors with the CV-Programmer

Installation error

Problems with WIN 7 and 8

The program must be installed outside of "c: \ Program Files" or "c: \ Program".
e.g. c: \ dc-car
The installation must be done as an administrator.

OCX not registered

During the installation, a program was in operation, whereby an OCX file could not be exchanged.
Remedy: First uninstall the software via the control panel.
In a few cases, first install the Programmer 4.4.2.
Its installation routine indicates when a used OCX file should be exchanged.

Update for CV-Programmer software

For initial installation the complete setup has to be run.
After a completely installed version 4.7.8.c it is sufficient to exchange the file DC-Car_CV.exe. For an update

Switching on the programmer without pressing a button does not bring brake light

Brake light only ( DC04)

Switching on the programmer without pressing a button does not bring brake light and hazard warning lights

Brake and hazard warning lights ( DC05, DC06, DC07, DC08)

  • The model must not be switched on.
  • The 8 pin plug is inserted twisted.
  • From the 8 pin plug, pin 1 and 2 + and minus do not come to the decoder.
  • The power adapter has too low voltage or is not plugged in. (only for self-made or RS232 version)

Technical tests:

The connected connection cable should be tested with a continuity tester.
Pin 1, 2, 7, 8 must have continuity.
(only possible with self-made or RS232-version)

Testing the CV-Programmer:

PIN 1 und 2 voltage ca. 5 Volt
PIN 1 und 8 zeigt Durchgang, wenn der Taster gedrückt wird.

No flashing by pressing the button when turning on the programmer

Bridge PIN 1 and 8 at the update socket and switch on the model. -> Now it should be flashing.
Plug the programming cable into the vehicle.
At the other end, bridge pins 1 and 8. Turn on the vehicle -> the headlights flash
(only possible with self-made or RS232-version)

When a Remote Receiver is used, transmission from the Digital Center can block programming. -> Switch off power from DC-Car-Booster!
Turning off the control panel does not help, as the booster then sends a "STOP".

When the programmer is disconnected, switch on the vehicle -> Measure approx. 4 volts at PIN 1 and 2. Caution so that no short-circuit occurs. Risk of fire not only with Lipo batteries!

Power supply problems

(only for self-made or RS232 version)
The plug-in power supplies sold today are switched-mode power supplies (Main switch adaptor).
They have a bad separation of the circuits.
Therefore, check that there is no voltage between the PC (chassis, USB ground) and the CV-Programmer ground (Sub-D socket, USB port, heat sink).
Otherwise, turn the power plug (PC or AC adapter) in the main socket.

Railway transformers should all use the same mass.
It is not enough to connect only the brown cable (Märklin) It must be ensured that there is no voltage between the light outputs 16V yellow (Märklin).
Otherwise, a transformer plug in the main socket must be turned over (In Switzerland this is better solved, because you can not twist the plug)

No data receiving

Decoder does not answer

with the CV program 3.3.0, 3.3.1, 3.3.2., 3.3.5, 3.3.8, 4.7.8c

  • For the RS232 version, a USB adapter is not working properly.
  • For a self-made adapter use wrong capacitors.
  • The update connector is burdened by an IR-feedback emitter.

- The update connector should be connected before the resistor, the IR emitter for feedback, behind it.

  • The update connector is overloaded by a trailer decoder.

- The update connector should be connected before the resistor, the trailer behind it.

  • Turning on the programming mode works, but when transmitting data the LEDs stops blinking.

- Pin 7 SerOut of the update socket does not output any signals. After some time the message "Decoder does not answer".

  • The program in the DC car decoder is too old.

(Update required.) Applicable only to DC04 -> with no hazard warning on power up)

Incorrect decoder ID received

with the program 3.3.0, 3.3.1, 3.3.2., 3.3.5, 3.3.8, 4.7.8c
Pressing the button and turning it on will cause the frontlights to flash.

  • Incorrect wiring at the update socket

(Pin 7 does not work or 1 and 8 is constantly connected)

  • A Remote Receiver receives signals from a booster.
  • The USB adapter is not working properly.
  • The program in the vehicle decoder is too old (before 2010)
  • The program in the vehicle decoder is faulty (an incorrect value is read)
  • another vehicle was previously processed, but the current infected vehicle has not yet been scanned.

To rule out operator errors, it is best to restart the program before processing a vehicle.
More information should be displayed. Please email them.
If everything else works, it's usually fixable with an update.
