CV means: Configuration Variable.
A Configuration Variable is a memory location in the decoder that controls the behaviour of the decoder.

The setting of the DC Cars is facilitated with the CV-Programmer.
This piece of hardware makes it possible to read and write CV settings from the decoder into the PC.
It also ussed for the XT-Modul.

The alternative is programming through POM which stands for Programming On Main (track).
This requires a Progset and a digital system.

Main track programming is also possible with a digital system and a DC-Car-Booster.
For this purpose, the booster has to be set up correctly(placing a jumper).
